Owain Marsh, a Grade 7 stu­dent at Glen­garry Dis­trict High School, works on a wind tur­bine he helped de­sign with class­mates Corbin Buff­in­g­ton, Harry MacGil­livray, and Des­mond Clark. Stu­dents from GDHS and Tagwi as­sem­bled in the GDHS gym on Fri­day to build their de­signs, test their abil­i­ties to gen­er­ate power, and have them eval­u­ated by a team of judges. At right is the win­ning team, con­sist­ing of Carl Mar­furt-Break­en­ridge (GDHS), Zac L'Ecuyer (Tawgi), Markus Gan­dia (GDHS), whose de­sign cre­ated 38 mV out­put and gar­nered 128 to­tal points. Be­low, stu­dents Devlin Hushard (GDHS), Ster­ling Mount (Tagwi) and Rory MacKin­non (GDHS) work on their project. Sec­ond Place went to Kayla McPher­son (GDHS), Bri­dan Rus­sett (GDHS), Ja­cob MacDonell (Tagwi) 150 mV out­put; 120.7 to­tal points. Third place went to Emily Gareau (GDHS), Madi­son Ma­cLeod (GDHS), Bryanna Boer (Tagwi), Paige Moores-McNi­col (Tagwi) 64 mV out­put; 118 to­tal points.
