A little weather can’t faze Fencibles Trust supporters
BY SCOTT CARMICHAEL Staff The Glengarry Fencibles Trust’s gala fundraising dinner last Saturday was a success, in spite of Mother Nature’s lack of cooperation. “Incredibly, only two people she is doing for her next book,” about the War of 1812, said Mrs. Baxter.
“She also elaborated on General (Isaac) Brock’s esteem for (then) Father Alexander Macdonell, and his (Macdonell’s) role as chaplain of the Glengarry Fencibles.”
As of press time, Saturday’s gala had raised more than $9,000 which will be used towards the ongoing renovation of the twocenturies-old Bishop’s House in St. Raphael’s.
