The 2018 edi­tion of SDGAA high school soc­cer kicks off this week, with a busy two-and-ahalf week league sched­ule.

In se­nior play to­day, May 4, Tagwi’s boys and girls teams will be at North Dundas.

Boys matches are booked for 9:30 a.m. (ver­sus the Devils) and 12:30 p.m. (against Se­away). The girls are sched­uled to hit the turf just once, at 11 a.m. to take on the Spar­tans.

Fri­day, May 4 will see the ac­tion move to Wil­liamstown, for a full day of play on two pitches, all start­ing at 9:30 a.m., when the Gaels will play CCVS (boys and girls games si­mul­ta­ne­ously).

GD’s boys will also tan­gle with l’Her­itage at 12:30 p.m.

The host Cru­saders boys are slated for matches at 11 a.m. ( ver­sus North Dundas) and 3:30 p.m. (against the Dragons).

Holy Trin­ity’s girls will play Se­away at 11 a.m., and their boys will take on the Spar­tans in the fol­low­ing match, at 12:30 p.m.

Mon­day, May 7, the ac­tion will con­tinue in Wil­liamstown, as Char-Lan hosts county ri­vals Glen­garry and Holy Trin­ity.

Here’s the full sched­ule for the day: 9:30 a.m. Char-Lan vs. Holy Trin­ity girls, 11 a.m. Char-Lan vs. Holy Trin­ity boys, 12:30 p.m. Holy Trin­ity vs. GDHS girls, 2 p.m. Holy Trin­ity vs. GDHS boys, 3:30 p.m. Char-Lan vs. GDHS girls, 5 p.m. Char-Lan vs. GDHS boys.

Reg­u­lar-sea­son ac­tion con­tin­ues through to May 18, with league play­offs booked for May 22. There will be four sep­a­rate play­off tour­na­ments: girls ‘A’, boys ‘A’, girls ‘AA’, and boys ‘AA’. Each will be hosted by the first-place team. The top four schools qual­ify.

There are 11 se­nior boys squads this year, play­ing a nine-game sched­ule. Nine se­nior girls teams will com­pete in an eight-con­test cam­paign. Each match counts for points in the stand­ings, re­gard­less of ‘A’ or ‘AA’ rank­ing.

Ju­nior soc­cer

The ju­nior teams were sched­uled to get a jump on their older coun­ter­parts, booked to hit the pitch yes­ter­day, May 1.

To­mor­row, May 3, Tagwi is slated to host three games.

At noon, the host War­riors boys squad will take on Glen­garry, fol­lowed by the girls match-up at 1:15 p.m. The last game will see Char-Lan’s boys take on Tagwi, at 2:30 p.m.

In other ac­tion that day, Holy Trin­ity is sched­uled to play at St. Lawrence, be­gin­ning at noon.

Next week, on May 10, GDHS and Tagwi will play at St. Joseph’s, while the Fal­cons will be at la Ci­tadelle.

EOSSAA VIC­TOR: Tagwi’s Bran­don Watkins won the com­pet­i­tive di­vi­sion of the re­cent EOSSAA bad­minton tour­na­ment.
