Wa­ter walk a heavy les­son

Staff Sev­eral stu­dents from St. Fin­nan’s Elemetary School aren’t likely to take their drink­ing wa­ter for granted any­time soon.

Last Mon­day morn­ing, the school’s Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 stu­dents par­tic­i­pated in an event called We Walk for Wa­ter, which is de­signed to show them the chal­lenges many peo­ple face in or­der to ac­cess drink­ing wa­ter.

“It’s rais­ing aware­ness for the wa­ter cri­sis around the world, in­clud­ing some of our indige­nous com­mu­ni­ties here in Canada,” ex­plained teacher An­drea Blaine, who or­ga­nized the event, which
