GSL senior soccer to open week of May 21
The Glengarry Soccer League’s adult divisions are scheduled return to the pitch the week of May 21, unless Mother Nature intervenes.
The 2018 campaign will feature five senior men’s teams – Dunvegan, Glen Sandfield, Greenfield, MacCrimmon, and Vankleek Hill – the same number as a year ago, though Dunvegan fills in this time around for the Drillers.
With the loss of the Drillers, there is no Alexandriabased club in the senior men’s division.
Greenfield won the GSL championship last season, the team’s fifth title in the six years.
On the women’s side, there will also be a quintet of contenders for 2018: Char-Lan, Dunvegan, Glen Sandfield, Laggan, and Vankleek Hill. This is a drop of two teams from last season, with the absence

this year of Glen Nevis and Greenfield.
Glen Nevis went out on a high in 2017, capturing the GSL senior women’s title over defending champ Dunvegan, in a sweep.
Four teams are booked to compete in the tier 2 men’s division over the course of the summer: Glen Nevis, Glen Sandfield, Greenfield, and MacCrimmon.
The tier 2 women’s group, where scores and standings are not kept, and there are no playoffs, will have five teams playing this year: Char-Lan, Dunvegan, Glen Nevis, Laggan, and Vankleek Hill.
Minor (youth) divisions
All minor divisions, from U8 up, are also expected to begin play the week of May 21. Schedules for all teams should be finalized and released next week. –
