Char-Lan second, GD third
Regular-season action in the senior girls division of the SD&G high school soccer league wrapped up last week, with Char-Lan finishing in second place, behind la Citadelle, while Glengarry ended up third, followed by Tagwi.
The Gaels concluded the campaign with a “great day,” as head coach Kathleen Tonkin describes it, tying St. Joseph’s nil-nil and edging Seaway 1-0 on a Sarah MacGillvray marker.
“Our defensive squad, particularly Sara Hayes, played a big role in our tie against St. Joe’s,” adds the coach.
Crusaders results last week include losses to la Citadelle (2-0) and St. Joseph’s (6-1), as well as a win over St. Lawrence (2-0). Names of goal scorers were not available.
Tagwi’s Cassie MacDonell notched the lone tally in a 3-1 loss to la Citadelle on May 16. The Warriors also fell to Holy Trinity, 4-1, with Brooklin Woodside scoring for Tagwi, while Morgan Zappia (with two), Paige Bohunicky, and Dara Laframboise scored for HT.
