Erroneous numbers prompts bill change
Less than three days after passing its tax rate bylaw, North Glengarry council was forced to call it back to due to some erroneous information.
CAO Sarah Huskinson says there was an error regarding the multi-residential rate at the upper tier level. As such, the township will need to recalculate its various tax rates and submit a new bylaw at the May 28 meeting.
Ms. Huskinson says that the new rate will not translate into a tax increase. She says the township is still committed to its current zero per cent increase budget that calls for a grand total of $14,591,566 to be raised through taxes.
Forty-six per cent of that total goes to the united counties, 40 per cent goes to North Glengarry with the balance going to school boards.
