Food for fines

The Glengarry News - - News -

Area food banks have received a boost from library patrons. Every spring and fall the SDG Library gives its members the opportunity to pay down library fines with non-perishable food donations. For every item donated $1 in overdue fines is waived.

The May campaign raised 528 donations of food or cash, while last fall’s campaign yielded 832 donations. From May 19 to May 26, each branch collected food items on behalf of local food banks or organizations. “Food for Fines is a great initiative. Its success stems from the dedication of the Library’s incredible public service staff, and from the generosity of our community,” says Nicholas Séguin, Communications and Marketing Coordinator.
