Charge laid in fa­tal crash

A Mis­sis­sauga man has been charged with dan­ger­ous oper­a­tion of a ve­hi­cle caus­ing death fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into an Au­gust 21, 2017 multi-ve­hi­cle col­li­sion on High­way 401 in South Glen­garry that claimed the life of Kim­berly Oost­ing, 32, of Rivière Beaudette.

Sar­b­jot Pan­der, 21, is to ap­pear in Alexan­dria court July 4 to face the charge. He was driv­ing a west­bound trac­tor trailer that col­lided with a west­bound pas­sen­ger ve­hi­cle that then struck other ve­hi­cles, re­ports the Stor­mont-Dun­das-Glen­garry On­tario Pro­vin­cial Po­lice de­tach­ment.

In all, four pas­sen­ger ve­hi­cles and two trac­tor trail­ers were in­volved in the col­li­sion where five oth­ers were trans­ported to hos­pi­tal with non-life threat­en­ing in­juries. The charge was laid af­ter OPP tech­ni­cal traf­fic col­li­sion in­ves­ti­ga­tors and SD&G OPP of­fi­cers con­cluded their in­ves­ti­ga­tion June 5.
