Daw­son to speak at Hall of Fame din­ner

Robert (Bob) Daw­son will be the guest speaker at the 2018 Glen­garry Sports Hall of Fame din­ner and cer­e­mony, on Aug. 15, at Glen­garry Sports Palace, in Alexan­dria.

Though he grad­u­ated from Ohio State Univer­sity af­ter study­ing chem­i­cal en­gi­neer­ing, the ma­jor­ity of Daw­son’s pro­fes­sional life has been spent in broad­cast me­dia.

Over the years, he has crossed paths with many in­ter­est­ing char­ac­ters, high­lights of which he will share with at­ten­dees of the din­ner cer­e­mony.

Daw­son, who is the owner/pres­i­dent of Mad Moose Tele­vi­sion, has a re­sume that in­cludes roles as di­rec­tor/vice-pres­i­dent of CBC Tele­vi­sion (mo­bile di­vi­sion), pres­i­dent of Transworld Tele­vi­sion, vice-pres­i­dent tele­vi­sion of “Just for Laughs,” pres­i­dent of Re­seau des Sports (RDS), and an­chor / news di­rec­tor and gen­eral man­ager/vice-pres­i­dent of TeleCap­i­tale Tele­vi­sion.

Over a decade ago, Bob and his spouse, Me­lanie, re-lo­cated to Glen­garry county, in the Mart­in­town area, where they re­side on a hobby farm. This is where he was chris­tened with the nick­name “Farmer Bob.”
