The Glengarry News - - Sports in the Glens - Sean Bray

Greenfield will face Vankleek Hill in the GSL senior men’s finals, scheduled to kick off on Aug. 22, with the second match two days later. Should a third game be needed, Aug. 29 is reserved.

Locations of contests have yet to be confirmed, however, by the Glengarry Soccer League. Updates will be posted to our website sportsintheglens.com

Greenfield earned its berth in the finals by dispatching McCrimmon last Sunday evening, 4-3 in extra time. Chris Wert booted the series-winner in the 115th minute, past goalkeeper Liam MacNaughton, who stretched out in vain.

From a scoring perspective, the game was an odd one, with the teams combining for six goals in the first half and none in the second.

McCrimmon marksmen were Nat MacMillan, Alex MacMaster, and Derek MacSweyn, while Greenfield tally- masters were Steve McBain, Blake McDonell, and Brenden Sanders.

Meanwhile, Team Grey sent Dunvegan packing in the other semifinal capper, 5-1. Justin Racine scored for Blue. Chris Lowe (3), Chase Albright, and Patrick Labré had the Vankleek Hill markers.
