Kid golfers strut stuff at tournament

Saturday saw the Glengarry Golf and Country Club’s junior golfers on the course to cap off their season with a tournament.

League director Henry Viger notes that the program grew again this year, with 41 youngsters participating in the weekly sessions.

Of those, 32 played in the Aug. 11 tourney, where Team Hurtubise placed first, with 35.5 points, edging out Team McDougall by just 1.5 points.

Each year, the event proves to be a fun one for the kids, whose parents caddy for the nine-hole competition.

Vigers says the program is equally popular amongst girls and boys, adding that this year, all participants received caps and shirts, thanks to a 2017 benefactor.

The clothing bears the program’s new official local, adapted from last year’s winning contest entry.

Tourney participants each received a prize package at the conclusion of the event, after enjoying a hearty lunch, courtesy of the golf club. –
