A fitting, growing tribute
The Editor, I note in the August 8 edition a picture of a tree planting in honour of Hugh P. MacMillan, done by the Historical Society. Hugh made an enormous contribution to preserving the heritage of Glengarry. Almost 20 years ago the Glengarry Pioneer Museum honoured Hugh with one of the first of its Pioneer awards and planted a tree in his honour on the Museum grounds where it flourishes. He was a founder of the Museum 55 years ago. With all of the deforestation going on in Glengarry it is pleasing to see that honouring an important Glengarrian in a well-deserved manner is leading to new growth.
