Junior ‘B’ hockey camps set to open
A new junior ‘B’ hockey season is just around the corner for the county’s clubs, as the CCHL2 prepares to return to the ice this month.
The Alexandria Glens will open their 51st camp, at Cornwall’s multi-sport complex, on Sunday, Aug. 26, at 4 p.m. (Note location is no longer Alexandria, as had previously been accounced.)
Further sessions for players are scheduled for Aug. 27 and 31, as well as Sept. 1.
Meanwhile, the Char-Lan Rebels will get things started at Cornwall’s multi-sport complex, with an opening session for players on Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The boys will be on the ice again on Sept. 3. For fans, the first chance to see returning and prospective players will come Wednesday, Sept. 5 in Alexandria, when the Glens host the Rebels at 8 p.m.
The teams are also scheduled to play each other three days later in Williamstown, at 8 p.m.
On Sept. 9 at 2:30 p.m., the Glens will play their third and final pre- season game, hosting the Richmond Royals.
Glens head coach Stephan Nadeau is back for another season. When asked what he has in store for fans, he was reluctant to divulge much at this point, joking, “Not much to announce that I want other teams to know.”
He did add that he has already signed three new players and can’t wait to get going with the camp. Nadeau notes, that, while the Glens are expected to lose some solid skaters, his staff has responded by bringing in “some really good players.”

Char-Lan head coach Jeff Carter returns for the 2018-19 season, along with Roddy MacKenzie.
Club president Tom Pasco says the Rebels are looking for a strong start, “with a good core of returning players, including Brennen Markell, Sam Ferland, and Grant Craig between the pipes to start the season.”
As of press time, Char-Lan’s new website wasn't yet live, but it should soon be available at charlanrebels.com –
