Ré­jean Pom­mainville, of Rus­sell, has been re-elected by ac­cla­ma­tion as re­gional di­rec­tor for Prescott, Rus­sell, Glen­garry and Stor­mont on the On­tario Fed­er­a­tion of Agri­cul­ture board.

First elected in 2012, Mr. Pom­mainville pre­vi­ously held the po­si­tion for 15 years with the orig­i­nal OFA board prior to its restruc­tur­ing in 2007. He was also a mem­ber of the Pol­icy Ad­vi­sory Coun­cil from 2009-2012.

Mr. Pom­mainville be­gan his jour­ney in the agri­cul­ture in­dus­try as a dairy farmer in 1975 be­fore con­vert­ing into a cash crop farmer in 2010.

He has been a mem­ber of the OFA since 1976. He served on the Rus­sell County Fed­er­a­tion of Agri­cul­ture ex­ec­u­tive from 198283 be­fore be­ing ap­pointed pres­i­dent in 1984. He held the ti­tle of pres­i­dent from 1984 to 1988 and again from 1993 to 1996.

His ded­i­ca­tion and sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tions to the agri­cul­tural in­dus­try have earned him sev­eral awards over the years for out­stand­ing vol­un­teer ser­vice.

The OFA is gov­erned by an 18mem­ber board com­prises of di­rec­tors rep­re­sent­ing 15 zones. Di­rec­tors are elected for a three­year term. The pres­i­dent and two vice-pres­i­dents are elected for a one-year term each year at the or­ga­ni­za­tion’s an­nual meet­ing in Novem­ber.
