Réjean Pommainville, of Russell, has been re-elected by acclamation as regional director for Prescott, Russell, Glengarry and Stormont on the Ontario Federation of Agriculture board.
First elected in 2012, Mr. Pommainville previously held the position for 15 years with the original OFA board prior to its restructuring in 2007. He was also a member of the Policy Advisory Council from 2009-2012.
Mr. Pommainville began his journey in the agriculture industry as a dairy farmer in 1975 before converting into a cash crop farmer in 2010.
He has been a member of the OFA since 1976. He served on the Russell County Federation of Agriculture executive from 198283 before being appointed president in 1984. He held the title of president from 1984 to 1988 and again from 1993 to 1996.
His dedication and significant contributions to the agricultural industry have earned him several awards over the years for outstanding volunteer service.
The OFA is governed by an 18member board comprises of directors representing 15 zones. Directors are elected for a threeyear term. The president and two vice-presidents are elected for a one-year term each year at the organization’s annual meeting in November.
