Colts nab first win
After a tough start to the junior ‘A’ hockey season, the Cornwall Colts nabbed their first win, last Thursday, on home ice, beating the Kemptville 73’s, 6-5, on an overtime marker from Tristan Poissant.
The county’s David Poirier contributed to the offence, with a goal and an assist, as the Colts record improved to 1-5-0-0.
Next action will be Sept. 20, at the Cornwall Civic Complex, versus the Navan Grads, on Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Cornwall and District night. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
Players on the Prowl
The Cornwall Prowlers senior ‘A’ hockey team of the LHSAO will hold its training camp on Sunday, Sept. 23, including a
Blue & White game open to the public, starting at 7:30 p.m. The action will take place at Cornwall’s multi-sport complex.
Mitch Gagné is one of three owners, along with Lyle Pidgeon and Richard Emond. He also will be co-coaching the team with Wayne Disotell.
Amongst the players currently signed are Glengarrians Jesse Fontaine and Pierre-Luc Sabourin.
In Sunday NCAFA minor football, the Cornwall Wildcats tyke 2 team fell to the South Ottawa Mustangs 48-40.
The other three ’ Cats teams beat the heat and respective Vikings squads in Gatineau: tyke 1 prevailed 40- 0, the mosquitos won 16-14, and the peewees triumphed 46-6.
The peewee, mosquito, and tyke 2 teams are now all 2-2, while tyke 1 remains unbeaten.
