Panthers oust Falcons

The Glengarry News - - Sports in the Glens - – Sean Bray

Monday’s SD&G high school ‘AA’ boys volleyball playoffs at Holy Trinity CSS didn’t go as planned for the host Falcons, as Catholic rival St. Joseph’s claimed both the junior and senior boys championships.

Holy Trinity topped the senior ‘ AA’ division during regularseason play, accumulating 15 points, to 13 for the Panthers and just 1 for CCVS.

In the junior 'A' division, St. Joseph's placed first with 12 points, while the Falcons were second at 8 points.

Girls basketball

Also on Monday, HT’s junior and senior girls basketball teams each won two games, beating CCVS and la Citadelle.

Senior coach Mindy Gibbs reports that her team scored “two convincing wins, but it was good as all players logged in lots of court time.” She adds that the aim was to build confidence across

the squad, heading into ‘AA’ playoffs.

St. Joseph’s is scheduled to host the tournament today, Nov. 7, with HT’s junior and senior girls teams matching up against CCVS in the respective semifinals.

Winners will advance to take on the Panthers for the SD&G titles.
