Tonne of contraband seized
The Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF) charged three people and seized more than one tonne of contraband tobacco following two recent operations near Cornwall.
On the evening of November 13, officers patrolling the waterfront in the city noticed a pair of suspects transferring several large bags from a boat to an awaiting vehicle.
A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrests of Jennifer Harries, 41, and Keith Seyeau, 43, both of Cornwall, as well as the seizure of 1,604 kg of finecut tobacco and a 2017 Dodge Ram truck.
The suspects were charged with possession of unmarked cigarettes and with breaching probation orders.
November 15, Ottawa resident Alexis McDougall, 36, was charged with conspiracy for her alleged involvement in the contraband seizure.
She was also charged with possession of unmarked cigarettes and two counts of breach of probation.
According to police, an unnamed male who is part of the ongoing investigation remains at large.
