Tonne of con­tra­band seized

The Corn­wall Re­gional Task Force (CRTF) charged three peo­ple and seized more than one tonne of con­tra­band to­bacco fol­low­ing two re­cent op­er­a­tions near Corn­wall.

On the evening of Novem­ber 13, of­fi­cers pa­trolling the water­front in the city no­ticed a pair of sus­pects trans­fer­ring sev­eral large bags from a boat to an await­ing ve­hi­cle.

A sub­se­quent in­ves­ti­ga­tion re­sulted in the ar­rests of Jen­nifer Har­ries, 41, and Keith Seyeau, 43, both of Corn­wall, as well as the seizure of 1,604 kg of fine­cut to­bacco and a 2017 Dodge Ram truck.

The sus­pects were charged with pos­ses­sion of un­marked cig­a­rettes and with breach­ing pro­ba­tion or­ders.

Novem­ber 15, Ot­tawa res­i­dent Alexis McDougall, 36, was charged with con­spir­acy for her al­leged in­volve­ment in the con­tra­band seizure.

She was also charged with pos­ses­sion of un­marked cig­a­rettes and two counts of breach of pro­ba­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, an un­named male who is part of the on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion re­mains at large.
