Gaels drop close one to Saints
The SD&G high school boys basketball season tipped off last week for the GDHS Gaels senior team, with a tight 52-49 loss to St. Lawrence.
At halftime, the game was tied 30-30, but the Saints did just enough in the second half to deal the Gaels the game one loss.
Dove Rickerd paced the Glengarry offence, scoring 26 points, including a pair of treys. Ethan Attridge recorded 13 points and had one drop in from outside the arc.
The Gaels this season are coached by Katherine Adams, and are next scheduled to see action on Dec. 6, at la Citadelle.
GD’s junior boys also began their campaign last week, humbled 43-10 by the Saints. Rowan McPherson and Jason Gingras each had three points to lead the Gaels.
Holy Trinity juniors top Tagwi
The junior boys basketball team from Holy Trinity CSS, with just six players in action, topped the Tagwi Warriors on their home court, 58-25, on Nov. 28, to open the high school schedule for both teams.
Noah Raymond led the scoring for the Falcons, with 25 points, while Tagwi’s Heath Patterson and Reese Lavigne each had six points.
