Ex­ca­va­tor, trailer heist

The Stor­mont, Dun­das and Glen­garry OPP are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the re­cent theft of a mini ex­ca­va­tor and trailer from a prop­erty on South Ser­vice Road in South Glen­garry.

A 2017 John Deere and a black 2009 Bel­mont SS1 were taken some­time on the night of De­cem­ber 6-7.

Drug charge

A 22-year-old North Glen­garry man was charged with pos­ses­sion of a con­trolled sub­stance (hy­dro­mor­phone) af­ter he was picked up by po­lice on Do­min­ion Street in Alexan­dria De­cem­ber 5. Elias John­ston is sched­uled to ap­pear in Alexan­dria court Jan­uary 9.

Ob­struc­tion, im­per­son­ation

A 37-year-old Corn­wall mo­torist faces a num­ber of charges – in­clud­ing five counts of fail­ing to com­ply with a pro­ba­tion or­der, and two counts of driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied – fol­low­ing a traf­fic stop on High­way 417 in North Glen­garry De­cem­ber 4. Shane Riopelle, who was also charged with ob­struct­ing a peace of­fi­cer and im­per­son­ation with in­tent to gain ad­van­tage, was held in cus- tody pend­ing a bail hear­ing in Corn­wall court.

Co­caine case up­date

A Corn­wall man charged with pos­ses­sion of co­caine for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing will next ap­pear in Alexan­dria court Jan­uary 9. Jef­frey Cameron, 47, was ar- rested by mem­bers of the Corn­wall Re­gional Task Force (CRTF) Oc­to­ber 17 dur­ing a bor­der in­tegrity op­er­a­tion along the St. Lawrence River near Corn­wall.

Mr. Cameron was ap­pre­hended af­ter he at­tempted to flee from po­lice in an SUV.
