Dun­ve­gan women com­mand lead

The 2018 por­tion of the Glen­garry Soc­cer League’s win­ter in­door sched­ule con­cluded last week, with Dun­ve­gan, the top se­nior women’s team, so­lid­i­fy­ing its grasp of first place, as the ladies scored a 7-1 vic­tory over win­less Dal­hart.

Alexis De­mers paced the of­fence, with four goals. Na­dine Oder­matt pot­ted a pair, and Caro­line DeRe­pentigny had one. The lone re­ply was net­ted by San­dra Illing. The other Dec. 18 match saw Alexan­dria blank Glen Ne­vis 3-0, on mark­ers from Valérie Bougie (2) and Emily MacMaster.

The re­sult drew these squads into a sec­ond­place tie, as each team has 15 points, though Alexan­dria gets the edge in goal dif­fer­en­tial, +11 to +9.

The sched­ule is now on hia­tus for the hol­i­days,

with play set to re­sume on Tues­day, Jan. 8, at the Alexan­dria dome.

The 7:30 p.m. game will pit Dal­hart against Glen Ne­vis, while at 8:30 p.m., Dun­ve­gan and Alexan­dria will bat­tle.
