NORTH-SOUTH DIVIDE: January 6, 1908 was the date of a referendum that underscored a North-South divide. This Glengarry County Archives souvenir is from a plebiscite on Glengarry withdrawing from United Counties of Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry. Following a close vote, the status quo was maintained. The South voted for the tri-county union while the North supported a split. More such mementoes can be seen on the Archives Facebook page.
