The Friends of the Glengarry Trails Association has received $84,000 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to beautify and upgrade a portion of the trail system.

The funds will be used to reconstruct the 460-foot long Lochiel Street boardwalk, upgrade the boardwalk and trails so that they are wheelchair accessible and even install a storyboard feature on the trail.

The storyboard will be a joint collaboration between the Glengarry Artists Collective and Encore. It will consist of ten panels placed at regular intervals along the trail. Each panel will contain part of a story. Stories will appeal to children and will likely be fiction, but with a local theme. The stories can also be changed throughout the year so there may be a different story for every season. The project must be completed by May of 2020.
