Ser­vice saluted

Lieu­tenant Gaby Gro­pler was re­cently pre­sented with the Cana­dian Forces Dec­o­ra­tion (CD), a medal pre­sented to Cana­dian Armed Forces mem­bers who have served for a min­i­mum of 12 years.

Lt. Gro­pler has worked and vol­un­teers with the CAF in var­i­ous roles at 253 Claude Nun­ney VC Royal Cana­dian Air Cadet Squadron in South Glen­garry as well as 325 Corn­wall Ki­wa­nis Royal Cana­dian Air Cadet Squadron in Corn­wall.

Lt. Gro­pler was pre­sented the medal by the Cen­tral Re­gion Com­mand­ing Of­fi­cer, LCol Gabriel Dore at a CO’s pa­rade held in con­junc­tion with the 379 Glen­garry Mus­tangs Squadron in Alexan­dria.

The medal sig­ni­fies a large com­mit­ment and ded­i­ca­tion of a ser­vice mem­ber in the Cana­dian Armed Forces to their coun­try, fo­cus­ing on one of the mil­i­tary ethos of ser­vice be­fore self. Lt. Gro­pler is no stranger to serv­ing her coun­try, vol­un­teer­ing in a mul­ti­tude of roles in­clud­ing ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fi­cer and marks­man­ship coach.

The CD is pre­sented to mem­bers of all ranks within the Cana­dian Armed Forces who have a good record of con­duct af­ter 12 years of ser­vice. Each ad­di­tional 10 years of ser­vice is awarded with a clasp to the medal sig­ni­fy­ing even greater com­mit­ment to Canada. Mem­bers pre­sented with the CD are also granted per­mis­sion to in­clude post nom­i­nals to their name – CD.
