Lieutenant Gaby Gropler was recently presented with the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD), a medal presented to Canadian Armed Forces members who have served for a minimum of 12 years.
Lt. Gropler has worked and volunteers with the CAF in various roles at 253 Claude Nunney VC Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron in South Glengarry as well as 325 Cornwall Kiwanis Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron in Cornwall.
Lt. Gropler was presented the medal by the Central Region Commanding Officer, LCol Gabriel Dore at a CO’s parade held in conjunction with the 379 Glengarry Mustangs Squadron in Alexandria.
The medal signifies a large commitment and dedication of a service member in the Canadian Armed Forces to their country, focusing on one of the military ethos of service before self. Lt. Gropler is no stranger to serving her country, volunteering in a multitude of roles including administration officer and marksmanship coach.
The CD is presented to members of all ranks within the Canadian Armed Forces who have a good record of conduct after 12 years of service. Each additional 10 years of service is awarded with a clasp to the medal signifying even greater commitment to Canada. Members presented with the CD are also granted permission to include post nominals to their name – CD.
