The Glengarry News - - Front Page - -- Scott Carmichael

Father Guy Desrochers will be ordained as Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocèse catholique d'Alexandria-Cornwall Catholic Diocese this Friday (February 22) at 2 p.m. at St. Finnan’s Cathedral in Alexandria.

Father Desrochers – whose appointment was announced by Pope Francis in mid-December – will assist Bishop Terrence Prendergast.

The Pope stated last year that the Alexandria-Cornwall diocese and the Archdiocese of Ottawa would be united “in the person of the bishop” – and that a second (auxiliary) bishop would be named to assist the Archbishop.

Father Desrochers, a 62-year-old native of Hull, Que., was ordained a priest in 1989.

Rev. Guy Desrochers
