New town­ship plan­ner

Ka­sia Ol­szewska has been hired as the new plan­ner for the Town­ship of North Glen­garry af­ter be­ing cho­sen to fill the post that be­came va­cant in De­cem­ber.

Join­ing the build­ing de­part­ment Fe­bru­ary 19, Ms. Ol­szewska is re­lo­cat­ing to this area from Lon­don, On­tario, where she had been work­ing as an ur­ban plan­ner for Zelinka Pri­amo Ltd. She is a bilin­gual, pro­fes­sional plan­ner with both pri­vate and pub­lic sec­tor work ex­pe­ri­ence.

Ms. Ol­szewska cred­its her time spent work­ing with the City of Sague­nay for help­ing her to at­tain a great deal of hands-on ex­pe­ri­ence in mu­nic­i­pal plan­ning. In this role she col­lab­o­rated with city plan­ners, ar­chi­tects and en­gi­neers on a ma­jor re­vi­sion to the city’s pf­fi­cial plan.

Ms. Ol­szewska is adept at nav­i­gat­ing of­fi­cial plan amend­ments, zon­ing by-law amend­ments and mi­nor vari­ance ap­pli­ca­tions.

NET­TING FUNDS FOR WOMEN’S DAY: The Journée de la femme-Women’s Day com­mit­tee net­ted $4,530 thanks to Alexan­dria ice fish­ing derby or­ga­niz­ers Jonathan Chevrier, Nor­mand Chevrier, Jonathan Che­nier and Stephane Lav­i­gne who gave them the op­por­tu­nity to hold a 50-50 draw at the big tour­na­ment. With $9,060 in tick­ets be­ing sold, the win­ner, Roger Charette from St-Pas­cal Bay­lon, went home with $4,530.
