New township planner
Kasia Olszewska has been hired as the new planner for the Township of North Glengarry after being chosen to fill the post that became vacant in December.
Joining the building department February 19, Ms. Olszewska is relocating to this area from London, Ontario, where she had been working as an urban planner for Zelinka Priamo Ltd. She is a bilingual, professional planner with both private and public sector work experience.
Ms. Olszewska credits her time spent working with the City of Saguenay for helping her to attain a great deal of hands-on experience in municipal planning. In this role she collaborated with city planners, architects and engineers on a major revision to the city’s pfficial plan.
Ms. Olszewska is adept at navigating official plan amendments, zoning by-law amendments and minor variance applications.
NETTING FUNDS FOR WOMEN’S DAY: The Journée de la femme-Women’s Day committee netted $4,530 thanks to Alexandria ice fishing derby organizers Jonathan Chevrier, Normand Chevrier, Jonathan Chenier and Stephane Lavigne who gave them the opportunity to hold a 50-50 draw at the big tournament. With $9,060 in tickets being sold, the winner, Roger Charette from St-Pascal Baylon, went home with $4,530.
