Catholic high school ri­vals Holy Trin­ity and St. Joseph’s will see their hockey teams do bat­tle in the Feb. 27 Bishop Cup, set to be played at the Corn­wall Civic Com­plex, at 6:30 p.m.

Spor­tus in­ter­rup­tus

Last week’s nasty win­ter storm im­pacted a num­ber of sports sched­ules, in­clud­ing Feb. 12 women’s soc­cer at the dome. Those matches have been resched­uled to Feb. 22.

High school curl­ing had been set to be­gin in Corn­wall last Wed­nes­day, but is in­stead be­ing played this week in Mor­ris­burg.

Also, boys high school hockey slated for Feb. 13 was moved to to­day, Feb. 20.

Rapi­des semi­fi­nal­ists

Le Re­lais’ ju­nior boys bas­ket­ball team reached the PRSSAA play­off semi­fi­nals on Feb. 15, be­fore bow­ing out, 55-28.

As coach Eric Crête puts it, “We gave them a good run.”

On the sea­son, les Rapi­des were 4-2, with wins against le Som­met (47-13), ESCR Hawkes­bury (50-12), l’Es­cale (37-36), and VCI (49-36).

Losses came against l’Es­cale (49-45) and Cas­sel­man (75-28).

Elie scores for Amerks

Green Val­ley’s Remi Elie notched his first goal with the AHL Rochester Amer­i­cans, farm club of the Buf­falo Sabres which hold his NHL play­ing rights, on Feb. 12, in a 5-2 loss to the Cleve­land Mon­sters.

Elie also as­sisted on his team’s other tally, while record­ing 5 shots on goal and stay­ing even on +/-.

It was the 23-year-old’s fourth game with the Amerks, since join­ing the team, af­ter he was placed on waivers by the Sabres.
