GDHS Gaels curlers garner gold, silver at SD&G championships
Glengarry District High School has two curling teams competing at EOSSAA this week, representing SD&G.
The mixed rink of Brooke Lapierre, Shayla MacNaughton, Matthew Bill, and Matthew Heinzle won gold at the SDGAA championships, which were held Feb. 19 and 20, in Morrisburg.
On day one, the Gaels mixed team got off to a strong start, beating la Citadelle 8-2.
The second day of action was much tighter.
First up, Glengarry took on Seaway, prevailing 6-5.
Then it was on to play St. Joseph’s, and once again the Gaels won on a 6-5 score.
The Gaels finished the bonspiel a perfect 3-0 to take gold and earn their spot at EOSSAAA.
In the boys division, there were two pools of three teams, with the Glengarry squad in pool B, along with Holy Trinity and Tagwi.
Day one saw the Gaels get past the Warriors 5-3 and the Falcons 8-3, to advance to the semifinal
