“I was pretty happy; still lots in the tank tho [sic].” That’s how Martintown’s Brennan Seguin describes his first career OUA medal, a pole vault bronze, in his first ever provincial university championship.

The graduate of Char-Lan DHS is a first-year student athlete at the University of Guelph, in the sociology program. At last weekend’s OUA track and field meet in Toronto, Seguin, cleared 4.81 metres. The gold and silver-medallists both cleared 4.86 m. Seguin’s personal best mark in competition this season is 4.87 m.

Guelph won both the OUA men’s and women’s championships. The team of 58 Gryphons collected 36 medals.

The 6 ft. 4 in. Seguin will next compete at the U-Sports meet (nationals), hosted by the University of Manitoba, March 7-9. –
