Glengarry’s midget ‘ A’ Highlanders girls hockey team has been eliminated from provincial playdowns, but lives on to battle in league playoffs.
Game one of the Ontario qualifiers took place Feb. 19 in Maxville, where Glengarry was felled 3-1 by the Kingston Ice Wolves The lone Highlanders marker came from Madison Ruffo, assisted by Savahna Vachon and Zoe Muenier.
Facing a must-win situation four days later on the road, the Ice Wolves ousted Glengarry, on a 6-0 effort.
ODWHA playoffs were set to open last night versus the Ottawa Ice. On March 3 the girls will again be on the road, playing the Ottawa Valley Thunder.
The first playoff home game is set for March 19, at 6:30 p.m. in Maxville, versus Rockland. In Alexandria on March 21, the girls will host Nepean at 6:30 p.m.
Maxville’s Connor MacLeod joined the Pontiac Comets during the home stretch of the season, suiting up for 8 games in which he recorded 13 points.
