Glen­garry’s mid­get ‘ A’ High­landers girls hockey team has been elim­i­nated from provin­cial play­downs, but lives on to bat­tle in league play­offs.

Game one of the On­tario qual­i­fiers took place Feb. 19 in Maxville, where Glen­garry was felled 3-1 by the Kingston Ice Wolves The lone High­landers marker came from Madi­son Ruffo, as­sisted by Savahna Va­chon and Zoe Mue­nier.

Fac­ing a must-win sit­u­a­tion four days later on the road, the Ice Wolves ousted Glen­garry, on a 6-0 ef­fort.

ODWHA play­offs were set to open last night ver­sus the Ot­tawa Ice. On March 3 the girls will again be on the road, play­ing the Ot­tawa Val­ley Thunder.

The first play­off home game is set for March 19, at 6:30 p.m. in Maxville, ver­sus Rock­land. In Alexan­dria on March 21, the girls will host Ne­pean at 6:30 p.m.

Maxville’s Connor MacLeod joined the Pon­tiac Comets dur­ing the home stretch of the sea­son, suit­ing up for 8 games in which he recorded 13 points.
