Man charged af­ter al­legedly burn­ing wo­man

A 20-year-old Dalkeith man has been charged with sev­eral of­fences by the Corn­wall Com­mu­nity Po­lice Ser­vice af­ter he al­legedly re­peat­edly as­saulted his girl­friend and on one oc­ca­sion, burned her with a cig­a­rette.

The man, whose name was not re­leased in or­der to pro­tect the iden­tity of the vic­tim, was ar­rested March 20.

He is charged with three counts of as­sault, two counts of forcible con­fine­ment, as­sault with a weapon, ut­ter­ing threats, mis­chief and breach of an un­der­tak­ing.

It is al­leged be­tween 2017 and Fe­bru­ary 2019, the man as­saulted his girl­friend on mul­ti­ple oc­ca­sions. In ad­di­tion to burn­ing her, the ac­cused al­legedly pre­vented her from leav­ing the res­i­dence, dam­aged her cell phone, and threat­ened to kill her.

83-year-old charged with as­sault

The Stormont-Dun­das-Glen­garry On­tario Provin­cial Po­lice de­tach­ment has charged an 83-year-old North Glen­garry man with as­sault and mis­chief.

The ar­rest was made when of­fi­cers re­sponded March 23 to a re­port of a do­mes­tic sit­u­a­tion in North Glen­garry. The in­ves­ti­ga­tion re­vealed that a man had as­saulted his wife and dam­aged prop­erty within the home.

He was re­leased and is sched­uled to ap­pear in court in Corn­wall April 16.
