Man charged after allegedly burning woman
A 20-year-old Dalkeith man has been charged with several offences by the Cornwall Community Police Service after he allegedly repeatedly assaulted his girlfriend and on one occasion, burned her with a cigarette.
The man, whose name was not released in order to protect the identity of the victim, was arrested March 20.
He is charged with three counts of assault, two counts of forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, mischief and breach of an undertaking.
It is alleged between 2017 and February 2019, the man assaulted his girlfriend on multiple occasions. In addition to burning her, the accused allegedly prevented her from leaving the residence, damaged her cell phone, and threatened to kill her.
83-year-old charged with assault
The Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment has charged an 83-year-old North Glengarry man with assault and mischief.
The arrest was made when officers responded March 23 to a report of a domestic situation in North Glengarry. The investigation revealed that a man had assaulted his wife and damaged property within the home.
He was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Cornwall April 16.
