MacDougall in D3 semis
The Hobart College men’s hockey team and forward Lawson MacDougall, who hails from Martintown, concluded their 2018-19 season with an NCAA Division III national semifinal loss March 22 to top- ranked University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, 5-3.
The No. 7/8 Hobart College Statesmen ended the campaign with a record of 21 wins, 8 losses, and 2 ties overall, matching the program record for victories in a season. The Pointers hadn’t lost a game going into the contest, en route to claiming the national title.
MacDougall, a junior, played in 28 games, this season, logging 9 goals and 12 assists, for 21 points. He had 56 shots on goal and 46 penalty minutes.
The 23-year-old earned a spot on the Middlebury Hockey Classic All-Tournament Team. He scored a goal in Hobart's 3-2 win over Oswego in the NCAA tournament quarter-finals.
Hobart made its ninth overall and fifth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. It’s the third time in program history that the Statesmen advanced to the national semifinals, and the first time since 2009.
Hobart ranked in the top 15 in the nation, in four statistical categories.
MacDougall’s junior hockey career was split between the Char-Lan Rebels and Cornwall Colts.
