Gaels set se­nior boys ros­ter, pre­pare to de­fend ti­tle

Coach Glen Camp­bell has an­nounced the ros­ter of the 2019 se­nior boys soc­cer team, at Glen­garry Dis­trict High School.

Team mem­bers are Kevin Doyle, Liam Fil­ion, Aaron Keuren­t­jes, Liam Mac­Don­ald, Lochlan Mac­Don­ald, Hamish MacLeod, Hunter MacPher­son, Bai­ley Pid­geon, Cameron Poirier, Dove Rick­erd, Craig van Loon, Barry Was­si­hun, Ethan At­tridge, Sea­mus Hardy, Shel­don Mac­Cal­lum, Jared MacLeod, Kenny MacMil­lan, and Crew Rick­erd.

Lo­gan Keuren­t­jes will be the goal­keeper, hav­ing moved up from last year’s suc­cess­ful junior squad.

As a team, the Gaels in­clude a num­ber of re­turnees from the 2018 edi­tion, which won the SD&G play­off cham­pi­onship and was run­ner-up at EOSSAA.

The group is also bol­stered by boys who were part of the EOSSAA-win­ning junior team.

Coach Camp­bell has or­ga­nized a pre-sea­son in­door tour­na­ment, to be played Thurs­day, April 4, from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m., at Alexan­dria’s dome. In ad­di­tion to the Gaels, the matches will fea­ture teams from Tagwi, Holy Trin­ity, and St. Joseph’s.

The Gaels are also sched­uled to com­pete in an April 10 out­door tour­na­ment, in Kingston.

Reg­u­lar- sea­son play in the SDGAA league will be­gin later in April, de­pend­ing on weather and field con­di­tions.

Fi­nally, the Rebels paid spe­cial recog­ni­tion to their num­ber one fan, Jean Levac.
