Gaels win pre-sea­son in­door tour­ney

Glen­garry Dis­trict High School’s se­nior boys soc­cer team al­ready looks in top form, head­ing into the SDGAA reg­u­lar sea­son.

Last week, the Gaels hosted a warm-up tour­na­ment at the dome in Alexan­dria, where the boys in red had lit­tle trou­ble with their op­po­nents, go­ing 3-0 on the day.

In the fi­nale, ver­sus Holy Trin­ity, Glen­garry’s of­fence was a force, pound­ing the Fal­cons 9-1.

Cameron Poirier and Liam Mac­Don­ald each scored twice, while team­mates notch­ing sin­gles were Crew Rick­erd, Ethan At­tridge, Kenny MacMil­lan, Bai­ley Pid­geon, and Craig Van Loon.

The lone marker from HT, which came early in the sec­ond half, was scored by Ja­cob Morin.

Lo­gan Keuren­t­jes, the Gaels goal­keeper, was solid in net.

Ear­lier Glen­garry re­sults saw the boys beat Tagwi 6-2 and drop St. Joseph’s 4-1.

The War­riors and Fal­cons tied their match 5-5, while the Pan­thers beat Tagwi 7-3 and Holy Trin­ity 8-1.

Char-Lan’s se­nior ros­ter is tak­ing form un­der the guid­ance of coach Sean O’Far­rell.

Stu­dent-ath­letes cur­rently work­ing out with the Cru­saders in­clude Cody Cham­bre, Nathan Crump, Ja­son Ouimet, Jack Cayer, Nicholas Oeg­gerli, Bren­dan Wat­son, Ethan Mac­Don­ald, An­drew Fako­takis, Chris Ouimet, Ai­dan Ler­oux, Jake Van­der­burg, Lach­lan McDonell, Dun­can McRae, Jeremy Cor­nish, Dy­lan Spence, Josh Van­dr­ish, Harrison Fraser, Nat Faubert, and Xan­dre Seguin.

Bray­den Dupuis will be the team’s goal­keeper.

League play be­gins later this month, Mother Na­ture per­mit­ting.
