Vanessa Bennett-Metcalfe, director of financial services/treasurer for the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, is retiring at the end of May after almost 20 years of service with the upper-tier municipality.
Mrs. Bennett-Metcalfe joined the United Counties in August 1999, after having previously served as the treasurer for both the former Township of Charlottenburgh and South Glengarry township. Prior to beginning her municipal career, Mrs. Bennett-Metcalfe was a public accountant with Craig Keen Despatie and Markell. In a press release, Counties CAO Tim Simpson congratulated Mrs. Bennett-Metcalfe on “a job welldone,” calling her “a highly professional, dedicated and loyal employee who left an important mark not only on the County, but on the entire municipal sector.”
Rebecca Russell – a member of the Counties’ financial services department for the past 14 years – will succeed Mrs. BennettMetcalfe as director of financial services/treasurer upon her retirement.
EASTER EXTRAVAGANZA: Anne Small and Amanda Derouchie from the Williamstown Library had a full house on Saturday for their Easter Extravaganza. Open to children of all ages, the event featured and Easter egg hunt, egg-cellent stories and egg decorating.
