Trea­surer re­tires

Vanessa Ben­nett-Met­calfe, di­rec­tor of fi­nan­cial ser­vices/trea­surer for the United Coun­ties of Stor­mont, Dun­das and Glen­garry, is retiring at the end of May af­ter al­most 20 years of ser­vice with the up­per-tier mu­nic­i­pal­ity.

Mrs. Ben­nett-Met­calfe joined the United Coun­ties in Au­gust 1999, af­ter hav­ing pre­vi­ously served as the trea­surer for both the for­mer Town­ship of Char­lot­ten­burgh and South Glen­garry town­ship. Prior to be­gin­ning her mu­nic­i­pal ca­reer, Mrs. Ben­nett-Met­calfe was a pub­lic ac­coun­tant with Craig Keen Des­patie and Markell. In a press re­lease, Coun­ties CAO Tim Simp­son con­grat­u­lated Mrs. Ben­nett-Met­calfe on “a job well­done,” call­ing her “a highly pro­fes­sional, ded­i­cated and loyal em­ployee who left an im­por­tant mark not only on the County, but on the en­tire mu­nic­i­pal sec­tor.”

Re­becca Russell – a mem­ber of the Coun­ties’ fi­nan­cial ser­vices depart­ment for the past 14 years – will suc­ceed Mrs. Ben­net­tMet­calfe as di­rec­tor of fi­nan­cial ser­vices/trea­surer upon her re­tire­ment.


EASTER EX­TRAV­A­GANZA: Anne Small and Amanda Der­ouchie from the Wil­liamstown Li­brary had a full house on Satur­day for their Easter Ex­trav­a­ganza. Open to chil­dren of all ages, the event fea­tured and Easter egg hunt, egg-cel­lent sto­ries and egg dec­o­rat­ing.
