$2 million for Lanthier Bakery
Boulangerie Lanthier Bakery, one of Alexandria’s most prominent businesses, has received a $2 million repayable contribution from the federal government to expand and update its Baie D’Urfé operation.
Lanthier Bakery will increase its productivity through the purchase of state-of-theart equipment, including wrapping and packaging systems, an unmoulding island, a slicer, mixers, automatic mixing systems, an oven and cooling towers.
Founded in 1932, Lanthier Bakery set up in 1985 a second production plant in BaieD'Urfé, on the Island of Montréal, where it makes bread using traditional recipes. In 2016, in cooperation with its principal shareholder, France-based La Fournée Dorée, Lanthier Bakery developed a new range of brioche breads and now aims to specialize in this niche market, where demand continues to grow.
