Some incorrect information appeared in last week’s front page article, Fire Service Gap Filled.

Although it’s true that North Glengarry’s Fire Chief, Pat Gauthier, says that a new antenna on top of the Maxville water tower will help with communications, he is not currently urging North Glengarry council to go from a tier 2 radio system to a tier 3 one.

“Our research has shown that tier 2 is plenty for our needs and that an upgrade to tier 3 does not provide us with enough usable advantages to justify the extra cost,” Chief Gauthier said in a follow-up with The Glengarry News. “Although the radios we are getting are tier 3 compatible, they will come in programmed for tier 2 only for now.”
