Foot­ball schol­ar­ship

Ja­cob Traynor, who honed his skills with the Glen­garry mi­nor foot­ball pro­gram, has been awarded a schol­ar­ship by the Uni­ver­sity of Ot­tawa, one year be­fore he grad­u­ates from high school.

“They love his tech­nique, speed and marks,” says his proud fa­ther, Bernie.

An of­fen­sive line­man, Ja­cob, cur­rently in grade 11 at Van­kleek Hill Col­le­giate In­sti­tute, has main­tained a 93 per cent av­er­age. He be­gan play­ing foot­ball as a Gael at the age of seven.

The ath­let­ics de­part­ment of the U of O re­cently con­firmed that Ja­cob would re­ceive a schol­ar­ship for the 2020-2021 aca­demic year. The for­mal sign­ing will be held in the fall.
