MPP appointed assistant to Municipal Affairs minster

Staff Stormont- Dundas- South Glengarry MPP Jim McDonell was among 31 parliamentary assistants appointed by Premier Doug Ford last week (June 26).
Mr. McDonell, who has represented the local riding since 2011, was named coParliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Steve Clark.
He will share the portfolio with Milton MPP Parm Gill, with Mr. McDonell handling municipal affairs and Mr. Gill in charge of housing.
Among the others on the list of new appointees is Kitchener— Conestoga MPP Mike Harris Jr., the son of former Ontario Premier Mike Harris, who was named Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry, John Yakabuski; and Norm Miller, Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP and the son of Frank Miller, the former Tory MPP who was briefly provincial premier in 1985.
The younger Miller is the new Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Premier Ford.
According to a press release from the Premier’s Office, parliamentary assistants support ministers with legislative and committee matters, including special projects and assignments.
They also “play a key role in building relationships and communicating government initiatives across the province.”
