North Stormont adds back-up

Staff North Stormont council added four reserve players to its municipal staff roster during last week’s (June 25) regular council meeting.
Richard Scheepers and Bill Toll were both named livestock investigators, replacing Bill Van Loon, while Marc-André Decoeur and Jacob Rheaume were appointed “when required” building inspectors.
Mr. Van Loon, who had been appointed to the position in early April, resigned in midJune.
CAO Craig Calder explained the need for the additions.
“We are just trying to expand our base. This should provide us with a bit of latitude and flexibility to ensure that we can provide continued service,” he said.
According to a staff report prepared for last week’s meeting, Todd Bayly was appointed as the “principal temporary replacement” township building inspector in July 2018 to fill in for current Chief Building Official André Brisson when the latter is absent.
However, the report pointed out that Mr. Bayly “is not available during the CBO’s upcoming scheduled vacation.”
GENDER REVEAL: Friends and family were told to look out for a big fire truck parked at Island Park on Canada Day. They were there to share a much-anticipated and joyous moment with Apple Hill firefighter Chad Chabot and his wife Chelsea. The couple planned to reveal to themselves and to the world the gender of the baby they’re expecting in November. A doctor-signed sealed letter was handed to the truck's pump operator who blasted out a baby-pink jet of water to loud cheers. This will be daughter number three for the Alexandria couple who are the parents of 3-year-old Abigail and Grace who is 2.
