Join the Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) July 5 at the Gray’s Creek Conservation Area for the 18th Annual Family Fishing Day.

A free, fun-filled day is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with prizes, barbecue, and fishing along Gray’s Creek. New this year will be face painting by a local artist.

“Our Family Fishing Day is always held during License-Free Family Fishing Week, so participants don’t have to worry about obtaining a license for the event. Our event introduces responsible fishing techniques along with fish identification tips,” says Lissa Deslandes, RRCA Community Liaison.

The event is open to all members of the public; even those without fishing gear can participate as limited fishing rods and tackle can be borrowed from the RRCA at the event.

“Our event typically attracts hundreds of participants from experienced anglers to beginners. There will be several prize categories, from largest fish caught to the smallest,” adds Ms. Deslandes.

Gray’s Creek Conservation Area is located at 18045 County Road 2, just east of Cornwall. With opportunities for shoreline fishing, marina, boat launch, nature trails and picnic area, it’s easy to see why Gray’s Creek is a local favourite spot for families to gather and enjoy the outdoors.

Come see why the St. Lawrence River and its tributaries are a sought-after fishery visited annually by anglers from all over North America.
