Dancers earn top spots at national championships
Dancers from two Glengarry Highland dance schools competed at the ScotDance Canada Championship Series in Moncton earlier this month. Over 800 dancers from across Canada, as well as the U.S. and Scotland competed at this event held at the new Avenir Centre in Moncton.
Dancers from the Coleman School of Dance and the Murray School of Dance earned several top six placings in groups of 30 or more dancers.
Madison MacLeod, Dalkeith, was the overall winner in Restricted Premiere 10 years Highland dances, Restricted Premiere 10 years Scottish National dances, and the Pre-Championship.
Kiera Speck-Meek, Moose Creek, was second runner-up for the Open Championship for 15-year-olds.
Lauren MacDonell, 11, Williamstown, was the overall winner for PreChampionship. Blair Rolland, Maxville, was the overall winner in Beginner 7 years for Highland Dances, and Scottish National Dances.
