Dancers earn top spots at na­tional cham­pi­onships

Dancers from two Glen­garry High­land dance schools com­peted at the ScotDance Canada Cham­pi­onship Se­ries in Monc­ton ear­lier this month. Over 800 dancers from across Canada, as well as the U.S. and Scot­land com­peted at this event held at the new Avenir Cen­tre in Monc­ton.

Dancers from the Cole­man School of Dance and the Mur­ray School of Dance earned sev­eral top six plac­ings in groups of 30 or more dancers.

Madi­son MacLeod, Dalkeith, was the over­all win­ner in Re­stricted Pre­miere 10 years High­land dances, Re­stricted Pre­miere 10 years Scot­tish Na­tional dances, and the Pre-Cham­pi­onship.

Kiera Speck-Meek, Moose Creek, was sec­ond run­ner-up for the Open Cham­pi­onship for 15-year-olds.

Lauren Mac­Donell, 11, Wil­liamstown, was the over­all win­ner for PreCham­pi­onship. Blair Rol­land, Maxville, was the over­all win­ner in Be­gin­ner 7 years for High­land Dances, and Scot­tish Na­tional Dances.
