“It’s hard to imagine how the community and fair must have changed since 1844. Some things never change, the support of the people of the area have made this fair one of the best in Ontario!”
That is the message from Vankleek Hill Agricultural Society president Jeff LeRoy as the organization prepares to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Vankleek Hill Fair.
“It is an honour to work with all the volunteers, directors and sponsors who make this annual event possible and looking forward to many more years,” says Mr. LeRoy.
“Celebrating 175 Years of Farm to Plate” is the theme of the event which takes place August 15 through 18.
Kicking off August 15, opening day includes hall entry judging, a parade and a combine demolition derby.
Friday’s program includes a horse pull competition and Western horse games.
Saturday’s busy schedule features livestock classes, a children’s tractor pull and demolition derby.
The fair wraps up Sunday with a horse shows, an antique tractor pull and Future Farmers Olympics.
Throughout the exhibition, there will be a midway, petting zoo, pony rides, machinery displays and a wide range of music.
