North Glen­garry res­i­dents have un­til 1 p.m. to­day (Au­gust 14) if they want to ob­ject to pro­posed in­creases in user fees slated to go into ef­fect next year.

Any­one who wishes to ad­dress coun­cil at its meet­ing Au­gust 22 is re­quired to sub­mit a writ­ten sub­mis­sion no later than 1 p.m. Au­gust 14 to the town­ship.

User fees will rise by an av­er­age of 1.62 per cent between 2019 and 2020 un­der a pro­posal that was pre­sented to coun­cil in July.

Wa­ter rates in Alexan­dria and Glen Robertson are to rise from $61.33 to $65.54 for the first 15 cu­bic me­tres while Alexan­dria sewage rates will in­crease from $33.46 to $35.29 for the first 15 cu­bic me­tres.

The flat rate in Maxville for sewage ser­vice will rise from $33.46 to $35.29.

Since 2015, the over­all rates for recre­ational and public works ser­vices have in­creased by a to­tal of 6.77 per cent, an av­er­age of 1.35 per cent per year over a five-year pe­riod.
