Twodeerleapingacrossthesoybean field were easier to spot, as was the rabbit darting out of the field. There are a lot of different mushrooms up, which may last for a short or long time. I have a hard time identifying them, but one that caught my eye was the two white ones so close together they looked like one with a double top.
I had a few days in Toronto and explored a small part of High Park where I saw lots of black and grey squirrels , lots of golden rod, poison ivy, ragweed, some milkweed and several monarch butterflies and I was surprised to see two puffballs. UPCOMING HIKES: Sunday Sept 9 - cycle the GART 1.30 p.m. Easy Pace - 2 Â½ hrs Starting from the big rock on North Harbour Rd. in Goderich, we will cycle to the Maitland River and back; a total of 27k. Rain or shine, meet Cecile at the rock with appropriate garbs and gears, water and a snack if needed.
Sunday Sept 15 - 9 a.m. about 4 Â½ hours River Line to Cherrydale road moderately fast pace. Get in shape for the Maitland Camino with a 15-km hike from River Line to Cherrydale Road. Meet at 9 a.m. at Cherrydale Road to car pool to River Line. The hike is from 35.6 km to 20.6 km.
The first section from River Line has several good climbs until crossing the creek at 32.9 km then a flat section along the river until having turned away from the river there is a steepclimb at 30.9 km.
We will walk for nearly a kilometer along Sharpes Creek Line before heading back into the woods and where there are the occasional lesser climbs and finally 104 steps up to Cherrydale Road. Bring water and a picnic lunch.
