Noodle Factory Jazz Project brings Love is in the Air to Goderich
Professional jazz is returning to Goderich -- and it’s even going to church.
On May 10 at 7:30 p.m., The Noodle Factory Jazz Project will mark its fourth annual performance in Goderich, building on previous appearances.
Noodle Factory is a 10-piece jazz ensemble with a well-developed “book” of great tunes. The Goderich concert at Lakeshore United Church, called Love Is in the Air, promises to be a tour de force displaying the members’ considerable technical abilities and conveying their joy in the music.
Led by Ian Burbidge, the Noodle Factory Jazz Project assembles a pool of talented musicians from across the Huron- Grey-Bruce region. Among its 10 members are two well-known Goderich musicians. Hugh McGregor is lead trombone player while Al Mullin is the band’s lead trumpet player. Most band members are current or former music educators, some of whom also have histories as touring musicians.
Love Is in the Air will feature jazz standards such as Burt Bacharach’s Look of Love and Smile. It will also include original pieces written by members Cam Porter and Burbidge. Porter wrote Mullin’ It Over, which will be played by Mullin himself. McGregor’s sultry trombone will be featured on Swingin’ Shepherd Blues. The band said it is pleased that Lakeshore United Church is partnering for the concert and that the proceeds will be shared with the church.
