The funeral for Martin J. MacDougall of Mount Stewart was held on Monday, October 8, 2012, from the Hennessey Funeral Home to St. Andrew’s Church, Mount Stewart, where the funeral mass was celebrated by Reverend John Lacey who delivered the homily. The funeral pall was placed on the casket by his children, Darlene Robertson, Bobby MacDougall and Emma MacDougall. The lessons were read by grandniece­s, Katie MacDougall­Jay and Molly MacDougall. The prayers of intercessi­on were offered by granddaugh­ter, Kaitlyn McGarry. The funeral mass was sung by St. Andrew’s Church choir, and the organist was Barb McKenna. During the funeral, the choir sang the entrance hymn, Come to the Water; the psalm, Rest in God Alone; the offertory hymn, Isaiah 49; and the communion hymn, How Great Thou Art. The meditation hymn, The Old Rugged Cross, was sung by soloist Joe McKenna, and the recessiona­l hymn, Amazing Grace, was rendered on the fiddle by Francis MacDonald. The pallbearer­s were nephews, Billy MacDougall, John MacDougall and Michael MacDougall; close friends, Bill Coffin, Mark Bradley and Randy Holland. Honorary pallbearer­s were nephew, Terry MacDougall; niece, Marlene Temple; grandnephe­w, Kenneth Kelly; nephew- in- law, Mark Feehan; close friends, George Coffin, Gerald MacEachern, Joe Dougan, Claude McCardle, Susan Rose and Sterling Fisher. Among those attending the funeral service was staff of Cooke Insurance and Shaw Brothers Farms. The interment took place in St. Andrew’s Parish Cemetery where Reverend Lacey held the graveside service.
