Man gets one day in jail, fine for impaired driving

A 59- year- old Charlottet­own man was sentenced Thursday in provincial court to serve one day in jail after pleading guilty to a charge of impaired driving.

A. Rodney MacKinnon was also fined $ 1,200 and must pay a victims of crime surcharge of $ 180.

Police stopped MacKinnon after receiving a tip about a possible impaired driver.

David William Greenan, age 20, of Charlottet­own, was sentenced to one day in jail after pleading guilty to a charge of impaired driving. Greenan was also fined $ 1000 and must pay a victims of crime surcharge of $ 150.

Police stopped the accused after he was observed speeding.

Robert Glen Retieff, age 26, of Charlottet­own, was fined $ 1,000 after pleading guilty in provincial court Wednesday to a charge of stealing merchandis­e from Walmart.

Retieff told Judge Nancy Orr it was a stupid thing to do and he has no idea why he did it.

The stolen items included antifreeze and a razor.

Retieff had prior related conviction­s.

Tracey Donna Singleton, age 36, of Charlottet­own, was fined $ 1,000 after pleading guilty to her second charge of theft in two months. She must also pay a victims of crime surcharge of $ 150.

On this latest charge, Singleton stole infant care items valued at $ 185 from Canadian Tire. All items were recovered. The court was told Singleton has been trying to address addictions issues.
