Maine’s Lee Academy Pandas defeated the Holland College Hurricanes 90- 81 Friday at the Hoops on the River Basketball Showcase in Miramichi, N. B.

The Hurricanes led by six at the half while the game was tied after three quarters.

“We did some good things on the offensive end, but need to improve drastically on defence. We had a very hard time stopping the dribble and that needs to improve,” said coach George Morrison.

“They mixed up their defences and we struggled against their zone. We will have to put some more time in working on our execution against the zone.”

Alvin Parker led the Hurricanes with 19 points. Hurricanes guard Steve Hardy went down with a bad ankle sprain late in the third quarter.

The Canes will face Vanier College today at 1 p. m. and the St. Thomas Tommies Sunday at 6 p. m.

“We have played a bunch of very good opponents this fall and I think it is really going to help us get ready for the regular- season.”
