Montague Intermediate expansion officially opens
Additions to music room and industrial arts facilities welcomed by students, staff
Students and staff in Montague are enjoying a new $ 1.3- million expansion to the music room and industrial arts facilities at Montague Intermediate School.
“The Government of Prince Edward Island is pleased to beinvesting in modern, comfortable facilities for students,” said Premier Robert Ghiz.
“This expansion allows students to participate in important programming that will lead to a well- rounded education.”
The 6,100- square- foot addition to the school includes new space for woodworking, metals and visual arts as well as an instructor’s office, a small computer lab and an expansion of the multi- purpose room. The new band room includes four practice rooms, a music instructor’s office and a sound studio.
“Government is pleased to see students and staff settling in to the brand new addition at Montague Intermediate School,” said Education Minister Alan McIsaac.
“Our No. 1 priority continues to be improving student achievement while providing students across Prince Edward Island with facilities to meet their programming needs.”
Innovation Minister Allen Roach said this expansion will help youths at the school to better prepare for future opportunities in postsecondary education and in the workforce.
“This investment will allow intermediate school students to participate in a top- notch music program and also to explore potential career opportunities in a modern industrial arts facility.”
Construction on the addition began in the spring.
